Honolulu, here we come!

We thought our call would never come and we really had been rejected. Last Tuesday Steve saw the newly called apostle, Elder Anderson and asked him who would be making the assignment on Friday because he knew someone going on a mission. He proceeded to tell Steve that He, Elder Nelson and Elder Ballard had done the assignments the Friday before and it is quite an ordeal that takes all morning. They rotate each week. They carefully go over every application to make sure it is the right mission. He told Steve he would find out and leave a note on his desk for him when he got to work on Wed. When Steve got to work Wednesday Elder Anderson was there again and told him in person it was Elder Scott in charge and it would be him who would make the final say on ours. He had left a very sweet note on his desk for Steve. Then he asked Steve who the Elder was and Steve reluctantly told him it was us because Steve hasn't given his notice at work. He was so excited and said he was calling Elder Scott on Thursday to make sure he paid special attention to our application.

We were shocked when we went to the church office building today and picked our papers up and it said Honolulu, Hawaii, and we enter the MTC July 20, 2009.

We never imagined going there. I am especially in shock because it is working in the welfare employment center helping people find employment. That is so ironic because Steve has been using the LDS employment center here in Provo for over two years and was never able to get a job. Maybe Heavenly Father is going to show us how it is done. I love all the apostles but have 3 favorites and Elder Scott is at the top of the list. Before we read the assignment, I knew Elder Scott would send us exactly where Heavenly Father needed us. We are just shocked it is Hawaii. We thought it would be an inexpensive mission and 18 mos. It is one of the most expensive and 23 mos.
